An individual who spiked treats with sleeping medication and provided them to youngsters at a summer program in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two young males who were nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight children and an older person became sick at the location in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at the judicial center on Friday.
Yet, he disputed a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was concerning a young boy.
The accused was held in detention before a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, detailed the criminal behavior to the court.
She explained his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a youth camp which he operated.
Ruben played a "candy game" with the minors, the legal counsel stated, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "repeatedly", and minors had previously become sick the next day.
She said the man had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had worries in recently.
The legal representative stated further: "This year his family member had suspicions about the situation, with valid cause.
"They chose" to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel said objects including infant oil, petroleum jelly and medical needles were found, and his stepson contacted the police about his concerns.
She explained Ruben proceeded to engage in the "sweet game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the next day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that time," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, had stated that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the events.
The legal representative said the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member called the authorities once more.
She stated Ruben then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five youngsters.
