In a surprising collaboration that breaks traditional forecasts, the game developer has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Mission Uncovered

According to the official statement, "A mysterious confrontation leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where rumors of banned practices and fearsome metamorphoses echo through the darkness." The narrative introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine group.

The adventure centers on "peculiar tests and a terrifying foe" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Transformations

The trailer features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser ends with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Additional Content

Players who finish the quest will receive an unique katana in addition to several objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

This update also brings the game's third no-cost story addition, titled "The Mystery." This humorous quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic techniques: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
